Ipša is a family business that started in 1998 restoring a hundred old trees and planting a thousand new ones. The company has been producing extra virgin olive oil and wine for over 20 years and is today a well-known and accepted brand on both the Croatian and gastronomic world maps. The farm is surrounded by olive groves and is located in a small hamlet, Ipši, a picturesque medieval village high on a hill. Just a stone's throw from Slovenia, 200 meters above sea level in northwestern Istria, the scenery here is absolutely breathtaking with small stone houses scattered across the hills, deep forests, plains, meadows and paths that take food and wine lovers to new lead discoveries.
In 2005, the company received great recognition for all their work when they were listed as one of the first Croatian olive oils in the world guide to extra virgin olive oil, Flos Olei, with their Frantoio and Istrian Bjelica varieties. In 2011 and 2017, the Frantoio oil achieved even more success and was included in the world top 20 olive oil list of the aforementioned guide. Klaudio Ipša, who started the company in 1998, has passed on his love and passion for olives to his son Ivan, who has been part of the family business since childhood. Ivan suggested years ago to start a new adventure - that of wine production - in 2010, the Ipša family started planting their first vineyard in Ipši.
Our vineyards are situated on three locations: Santa Elena, Ipši and Oprtalj. Santa Elena is one of the most attractive vineyards in the whole of Istria lying 420 m above sea level, which also makes it among the highest positioned grapevines of the region. The impact of the environment and high altitude, has a vital effect in wine production quality and so, our vineyards take in the best as they stretch high above the sea basking in the Sun and fresh air currents.
